A native cook, at Athens, Ath.14.659a; derived from μασᾶσθαι by Chrysipp.ibid., but acc. to Ar.Byz.ibid. it means comic mask of a cook, sailor, etc., named after an actor so called:—hence [full] μαισωνικὰ σκώμματα, ib.b. -
